Book Launch Webinar: A Systemic Transition to Circular Economy Business and Technology Perspectives

In a joint collaborative effort among Future Earth, Greening of Industry Network (Series Editor), Springer-Nature Group (Book Publisher), and the Editors (Prof. Aldo Ometto; Prof. Joseph Sarkis, and Prof. Steve Evans), we are organizing two webinars focused on a newly-launched book: “A Systemic Transition to Circular Economy: Business and Technology Perspectives.”
The first webinar will dive into a few of the chapters which will cover topics including socio-technical innovations and ecological transitions; the importance of circular economy in Hewlett-Packard’s Sustainable Impact Strategy; Unilever’s circular economy strategy.

This chapter introduces the context, justification, and goal of this edited book. The ultimate goal is to present fundamental knowledge and practical insights into the circular economy related to business and technology. The book champions a value-based approach and a system perspective in order to support sustainable innovation with effective positive impacts. This chapter also comments on the content of the works, presenting the authors, title, highlights, and integrative nature of the chapters. The book can be read and evaluated holistically or separately as chapters.

Ken Webster is a Visiting Professor at Cranfield University; Fellow at Cambridge Institute of Sustainable Leadership, and was formerly Head of Innovation at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation from 2010-18. He is on the Club of Rome’s Transformational Economics Commission and a contributing author to the Club’s book, Earth for All (2022). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and received a Doctor of Science for honoris causa (DSc h. c) in 2023 for his work on extending thinking in circular economy. |
